National Parks: Springfield Armory National Historic Site -- Springfield, Massachusetts -- George Washington proposed the nation's first national armory to be located in Springfield, Massachusetts. For over 174 years, from 1798 through 1968, the Armory produced high quality weapons for our military. Springfield weapons were used in every major US engagement including the War of 1812, the Civil War, the Plains Indian Wars, Spanish American War, WWI, Korea, WWII, Vietnam and even today.

National Parks: New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park -- New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park commemorates the whaling industry and its impact on the social, economic and environmental history of the United States. The park encompasses 34 acres over 13 city blocks. More than 70 structures-most owned privately-are within the park's boundaries. The park also has a geographically distant partner-the Inupiat Heritage Center-located in Barrow, Alaska, which commemorates more than 2,000 Arctic whaling voyages and preserves the language and traditions of the Inupiaq people of Alaska's North Slope.

National Parks: Cape Cod National Seashore -- Wellfleet, Massachusetts -- Cape Cod National Seashore comprises 43,604 acres of shoreline and upland landscape features, including a forty-mile long stretch of pristine sandy beach, dozens of clear, deep, freshwater kettle ponds, and upland scenes that depict evidence of how people have used the land. A variety of historic structures are within the boundary of the Seashore, including lighthouses, a lifesaving station, and numerous Cape Cod style houses. The Seashore offers six swimming beaches, eleven self-guiding nature trails, and a variety of picnic areas and scenic overlooks.
